Special details: First production saloon in world to have (DWS) Double Wishbone Suspension all round. One of the first cars to feature optic reflectors with completely clear lenses on the headlamps replacing the more conventional lens diffused lighting. Whilst still using glass lens.
Shared many optional extras to the Honda Legend, Electric windows all round, Cruise control, ABS, Electric adjustable seats, Heated seats, Half Antenna, Parking Pole, Soft Foam seats, Electric folding and heated mirrors, (more to add as I research)
In 1991 the Accord won Car Of The Year award. And was the best selling car for 2 years from 1991-1993 in the USA.
Typical weaknesses (after 10 years plus) : ABS sytems prone to sensor failure. Power antenna doesnt operate fully up. Fuel filler neck corrosion. Rear quarter panel rust. Weak brake master cylinder.
Strengths; Superior handling, direct steering rack, good power to weight for its age, massive boot, unbreakable engines.
In the USA there are 4th gens, that have over 400k plus and still daliy driven with occasional track use. There is some records broken using the 4th gen, racking up close to 1million miles with same engine. The engines are over engineered, as a result popular in the drag racing and forced induction scene.
(I shall add more when more knowledge is gain.)
Hope this is useful/interesting for someone B)
