Hi all,
I think this will apply to just the manual petrol drivers of the 8th gen - My 2.4 manual tourer has a mechanical whine that increases it's pitch as my speed increases.
It's not related to rpm and starts from low speeds right up to motorway speeds. It is effected by throttle - if I back off the throttle it gets a lot quieter, almost dissapears. If I lightly touch the throttle to maintain speed it's at it's loudest.
It does not seems related to the gearbox, the whine has the same pitch if I keep a constant speed but use different gears (say 4th instead of 5th) but if I increase speed the whine goes up in pitch.
It's not a very loud noise but now I have noticed it, it's annoying me every time I drive Honda service guy took it for a drive and said it may be a charateristic of the car and that if I'd not pointed it out he would not have noticed it. He was going to drive another petrol manual 8th gen to compare but had none in stock.
So over to you guys - has anyone else noticed this? Is it normal for this car, or is there a problem lurking somehwere? (Driveshaft?) car has 31k on the clock and 11 months warranty to run so if there is a prob I want to get it sorted.
I'll try and capture the noise on video but I don't think it will pick up that well....
