Mr OCD Detailing
Hey Guys,
Been a very long day but let me start from the beginning…
Thursday 03/03/2011
As many of you know I took the car for its second MOT, passed again with no advisories and everything worked as perfect, and when I say perfect I mean that too! Drove the car as normal all day Thursday and parked it in the drive as normal in the evening…
Friday 04/03/2011
I needed to pick up a parcel in the morning from the local Royal Mail delivery office and went as normal and the car drove spot on as it normally does till on the way back home on overtaking it took slightly longer to speed up than normal… I didn’t think anything of it and was nearly home by this time… in the afternoon I was on my way to Uni and now the car was seriously struggling to speed up and was constantly over revving… then I knew it… CLUTCH SLIPPING! This is the first ever time it has done this and on this day, I have never noticed this before so it means it’s started now! I then called up Mr Honda (CJ) just to make sure I was correct and it was the case… I didn’t want to boast it on the forum just yet so only CJ knew… (Thanks for info CJ)
I drove home carefully not trying to cause any further damage, then after making a few phone calls and speaking to my dad, looking to buy a new clutch kit, cutting a long story short I bought a new one from Hepworth Honda, Huddersfield. Paul the parts manager is a fantastic bloke and did me a really good deal, let’s just say cheaper than local motor factors, and best of all he said there was one ready to collect for me the next morning! He even printed out around 32 odd pages guide on what to remove and how to fit… which was really nice of him though we didn’t use much of it!
Saturday 05/03/2011
8.30am set off to Hepworth Honda to collect the kit… everything was ready and even managed to get another £2.99 discount on the kit LOL better than nothing! 9.30am I arrived at my dad’s friends garage… the plan was for us both to fit the clutch… the actual fitting of the new part I left to him as I have never done this before but the most of the removal of bits was done by me, which is always a good feeling when working on your own car!
Here are the new parts…
Some pics of the car waiting to be fixed …
Some pics of the new clutch plate, pressure plate & release bearing…
